Kirill Shevchenko the Winner of the 2nd Leg of European Youth Grand Prix

The 2nd leg of European Youth Grand Prix came to an end in Jermuk, Armenia. The solemn closing ceremony of the tournament took place on 15th of October at Jermuk Ashkhar health center. The governor of Vayots Dzor region, President of Vayots Dzor chess federation Harutyun Sargsyan, first vice-president of Armenian Chess Federation, founder-president of Chess Academy of Armenia Smbat Lputyan, the tournament director Gennady Nesis were present at the ceremony. In his speech Gennady Nesis that tournament was held in high level and each of the participants tried to do his best for the victory, but eventually the strongest one triumphed. The first vice-president of Armenian Chess Federation, founder-president of Chess Academy of Armenia Smbat Lputyan in his speech said that he is satisfied that another big international chess event was held in Jermuk, and added that city of Jemruk has all the conditions that are necessary for high level international chess tournaments.

After that the Chief Arbiter of the tournament, IA Norayr Kalantaryan summarized the results of Grand Prix: Ukranian Kirill Shevchenko took the first place with 10 points out of 11. Representative of Armenia Shant Sargsyan was second with 8.5 points and Sargsyan’s compatriot Aram Hakobyan came third with 7.5 points.

After the prize-giving ceremony the winner of the tournament Kirill Shevchenko thanked the organizers for the organization of the tournament in high level and added that he enjoyed playing in Armenia, and that he was pleasantly surprised to find out that Chess Academy of Armenia is situated in Shevchenko Street and thought that it was sign from above that the tournament would be successful for him.
